Service Opportunities

Australia
The Australian National Office is presently taking
offers for youth year of service volunteers to serve at the Baháfí
Temple
in Sydney, Australia.
They have a number of positions becoming available September 2007, for periods
ranging between 9 and 12 months. A variety of work will be available, in areas
such as gardening, general maintenance, janitorial services and
administration. Volunteers will also be involved in BESS (Bahai
Education at State Schools).
Benin (category 2): Assist
with youth teaching activities, Ruhi study circles
& art classes. Need 1 youth from 6 months to one year who speaks French fluently.
Bosnia and Herzegovina (category 1): Internships
and international study opportunities exist for BahaLi
students to combine Masters degree studies with short
or long-term pioneering. Could arrange to do an internship in one of many
organizations.
Brazil
The School of the
Nations, Escola das Nações, a bilingual (English- Portuguese), international, Bahá'í-inspired school located in Brasilia, Brazil is
seeking professional educators for English teaching positions in Middle and

Chile (category 2): Youth are needed for our "A' Cluster located in the Mapuche Indian
area of southern Chile, where our Baha'i Radio Station and 2 Rural Baha'i
Schools are. The Labranza Baha'i Institute where
an ongoing flow of youth come and go also need volunteers. Two
"B" Clusters located in central Chile, need youth volunteers as well for Core
activities. The 3rd priority is Santiago.
Czech Republic (category 2): Brno, a B
Cluster, is looking to become an A Cluster by the end of the current plan, and
is looking for volunteers to teach actively and to facilitate all core
activities. City of Liberec requires caretaker of BaháLí centre & volunteer to run core activities.
Support of LSA needed in Liberec and urgently in České Budějovice.
Dominican Republic (category 3)
Looking for youth to stimulate core activities, Jr. youth and teaching campaigns. The use of the arts is
encouraged. Intermediate or advanced level of Spanish .is
necessary Monthly expenses are between US$225 and $275. A special team of volunteers needed in one
cluster. A separate
application form to be completed.
El Salvador (category
3)
Colegio Ridván (near San Salvador):
Youth needed (1 immediately) for
primary school, teaching arts, English and computer education as well as
participation in teaching and core activities in the local community. Room
provided for $20, with $200/month for additional living expenses. Completion of
Ruhí courses and some knowledge of Spanish are

Ethiopia
School of Nations:
Responsible
and mature Youth Year of Service Volunteers and Pioneers
to assist in the teaching of the schoolfs English and Moral classes
Kindergarten to Grade 6. The
Year of Service Volunteers and/or Pioneers
would need to provide, at least, a one year commitment, with plans to begin
teaching in September 2007. School of Nations Ethiopia seeks volunteers as early

French Guiana
(category
2):. Need 2 female
youth to come and serve for one year. Need 1 male older youth for
Amerindian village. Need to have completed at least the first 4 Ruhi books and speak a reasonable amount of French.
Ghana (category 3): Need youth to assist
with junior youth activities and at the National Bahafi
Centre. Knowledge of pre-youth
books would be helpful.
Greenland: Need a team of youth who can take initiative to
explore opportunities and who are sufficiently
strong both morally and psychologically.
Guyana (category 3): 10 YYS volunteers needed to assist with the advancement of clusters in B and C+ clusters and also to
assist with intensive programmes of growth in two A
clusters.
Have monthly weekend Youth Can Move The World training
sessions and coordinate facilitators.
Hawaii: Duties of youth offering service may include
any of the following: assisting with the training institute, the National
Office, core activities, training of tutors, animators and childrenfs class
teachers.
Honduras (category 2): Volunteers needed at the Hogar Tierra Santa orphanage, a Bahafi-inspired
project and to assist the community with core activities.
India (category 3): Volunteers needed at the House of Worship and the Barli
Institute for Rural Women, a residential training program for women to gain
life skills. Various opportunities also exist at the New Era and Rabbani
Schools. FAS - Lucknow
(Foundation for Advancement of
Science) needs
volunteers who are good at writing, especially story writing, or at working on
animation. They are looking to produce a TV series for children.
Japan (category 2): Need short-term/long-term youth volunteers. The
youth will assist in the cluster growth process from a few weeks to several
months. Activities include: facilitating study circles, promoting devotional
meetings, conducting childrenfs/junior youth classes/gatherings, facilitating
youth activities such as teaching events, dance workshop, other forms of art
workshop.
Kenya (category 3): Self supporting volunteers needed to help restart moral education
program at Namawanga Baha'i school.
Kosovo: Creative
and energetic teachers required to help with childrenfs and junior youth
classes in Pristina. Long term pioneers needed to
assist small Bahafi communities. Couples and Families welcome.
Lesotho (category 2): Need
youth service volunteers who could help with boosting the Institute process.
Accommodation is available with a pioneer couple.
Macau: School of the Nations: Teacher of
English language/literature needed, with B.A. or B.Ed.,
or suitable teaching experience. Accountant urgently needed, with Accounting degree of some kind and with ability to speak
Cantonese and/or Mandarin.
Macedonia (category
1): Volunteers required to teach English to
individuals or small groups in a small project to help the unemployed, who make up 40 percent of the population
in Macedonia.
TEFL training would be help but not essential. Accommodation could be
provided. The cost of living is not expensive.
Namibia: Render
secretarial support services to the secretariat of the National Spiritual
Assembly for a two year period. Responsible for full secretarial and administrative support, the
day-to-day running of the Office and coordination of programs and projects on

Romania (category
2): Mayflower
Association, a Bahafi inspired kindergarten in Covasna, Romania,
which is a predominately Hungarian speaking region, is seeking a youth who
enjoys working with 3-7 year old children, to serve for one year. Previous
experience an asset. Training will
be provided in Mayflower style of teaching. Accommodation may be available.
Slovakia (category 2): The role
of a youth serving in Banská Bystrica
would be to help facilitate the core activities through actively seeking out
new contacts as well as assisting in the organization of the activities. There
also exists a Bahafi inspired kindergarten gBrilliant
Starsh. which would benefit from the contribution of
an English speaking youth.
Swaziland: The Bahafi
Schools in Swaziland have an
ongoing need for international youth (male
and female) on their year of service. We provide room and board and I believe
there is a small monthly stipend for personal expenses. Youth interested in serving here should
be willing to commit for at least 6 months (two school terms), but longer is
even better. The most acute needs
are in the secondary and primary schools, but they can always use help in the
pre-school as well. There are also opportunities
for service in other parts of the country during school breaks.
Tanzania (category 3): Needs
youth for following positions: Office Assistant at
the Bahafi National Centre, Junior Youth Animator
and Ruhi Tutor to assist with Institute Courses. Coordinate and manage core activities by assisting
the Local Spiritual Assembly. The National Teaching Committee needs
youth to help organize the National Convention and other national events. Office
of External affairs opportunities as well as opportunities to teach English at
the Ruaha
Secondary School (no
previous experience required).
Thailand (category 2): Teacherfs assistant at a Bahafi-inspired
school, teach English and
virtues. Must be mature, independent and get along well with children ages
2 - 6. Junior Youth Animator needed to tutor junior youth books in
medium-English Catholic high school. Assistant needed at National Office to
help NSA with archiving project (digitalizing photos and videos).
Uganda (category 3): Assist at the House of Worship as guides or do
manual labour, volunteer or help
with computer training at the National Centre in various offices of Publishing
Trust, Institute, Secretariat, or
the Office of the Temple Director.
Vanuatu (category
2):
Looking for facilitator for junior youth classes, facilitator for youth choir/dance/drama
groups and voluntary teacher at the Rowhani Bahafi Schol, for 3 -4 months or
a year.
Venezuela (category 3): Year of service program including a five-week
orientation beginning in August. Includes teaching and
consolidation, childrenfs classes, and youth activities. Will work in teams of two or more. Some knowledge of Spanish
would be an asset.
Zambia
(category
3): Need for female
youth to serve at the Banani International Secondary
School.
