Shahla ran into the house, dropping her book bag as she went, shouting, \u201cMom, a boy at school gave me a bloody nose!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-496 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahaijp.org\/daystar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/word-image.png\" width=\"160\" height=\"129\" \/> Mother jumped up in surprise and looked carefully at Shahla\u2019s face. Little Anisa came running too: she wanted to see Shahla\u2019s poor nose.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-498 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahaijp.org\/daystar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/image-result-for-clip-art-teacher-and-naughty-boy.jpeg\" alt=\"Image result for clip art; teacher and naughty boy\" width=\"292\" height=\"286\" \/> \u201cWhat happened?\u201d Mother asked, imagining this big, bully of a boy slamming his fist into poor Shahla\u2019s nose!<\/p>\n<p>Just then, Mona, Asma and Riaz walked in from school.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-500 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahaijp.org\/daystar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/word-image-1.png\" width=\"154\" height=\"139\" \/> Shahla began her story, \u201cThis boy in my class was being <em>namaiki <\/em>to the teacher. (\u2018<em>Namaiki\u2019<\/em> is Japanese for rude or cheeky.) I told him to stop, but he wouldn\u2019t! So I went behind him and wrapped my arms around his neck to pull him away from the teacher.\u201d Shahla then went behind a surprised Riaz and wrapped her arms around his neck. \u201cThen, he threw his head back! His head punched me in the nose!\u201d Riaz after hearing this, cooperated by putting his head back, to make contact with Shahla\u2019s head. \u201cAnd my nose started bleeding all over the place! It really hurt!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-503 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahaijp.org\/daystar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/word-image-2.png\" width=\"160\" height=\"149\" \/> Just then Shahla looked out the glass door and exclaimed, \u201cOH NO!\u201d and she ran to her room. Everyone else looked out and saw a woman carrying a big fruit basket coming toward the house; behind her, was a little boy.<\/p>\n<p>Mother went outside to greet them while Anisa, Asma, and Riaz ran out to see what was going on.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-505 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahaijp.org\/daystar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/related-image.jpeg\" alt=\"Related image\" width=\"222\" height=\"226\" \/> The woman introduced herself and said she and her son had come to apologize for his hurting Shahla at school today. Mother looked at the boy, who was smaller than Mother had imagined\u2026. He was quite a bit shorter than Shahla. Suddenly Mother felt sorry for the boy. Who picked on who, she wondered? Mother turned toward the house and called Shahla to come out and greet the guests. Shahla needed to apologize, too! But then, to Mother\u2019s great embarrassment, and Asma and Riaz\u2019s great amusement, Shahla ran out of the house with a pair of boxing gloves on!!!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShahla come down here and apologize!\u201d Mother scolded.<\/p>\n<p>Shahla came down, and Mother took the gloves off Shahla.<\/p>\n<p>The woman dragged the boy in front of her and poked him and nodded. He looked down and timidly said, \u201cI am sorry Shahla; I didn\u2019t mean to give you a bloody nose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mother looking sternly at Shahla said, \u201cShahla I think you were too rough with him; he was only protecting himself. You need to apologize, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am sorry I choked you,\u201d said Shahla, also looking down.<\/p>\n<p>Mother suggested that Shahla take the boy into their room to play a game together. Mother asked the other children to go and play with them, while Mother took the woman into the house for a cup of coffee.<\/p>\n<p>Later that evening at dinner, Mother told Father what had happened.<\/p>\n<p>Mona asked, \u201cWell, Shahla, did you forgive him?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, it was kind of hard, but once we got playing the game, we had a lot of fun\u2026. He is kind of a nice guy!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Father nodded and said, \u201cYes, I heard a very wise man say that being angry with someone is like taking poison and expecting the other person to die!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-507 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahaijp.org\/daystar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/c-users-user-appdata-local-microsoft-windows-inet.jpeg\" alt=\"C:\\Users\\User\\AppData\\Local\\Microsoft\\Windows\\INetCache\\Content.MSO\\CF690865.tmp\" width=\"177\" height=\"112\" \/> With that Riaz and Asma laughed out loud, and Mona said, \u201cYeah, think about it: When you are angry, you feel upset, but maybe the other person has forgotten all about it!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-509 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahaijp.org\/daystar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/image-result-for-clip-art-children-fighting.jpeg\" alt=\"Image result for clip art children fighting\" width=\"216\" height=\"115\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh, that\u2019s like the story about the teacher and the kids in her class that were always fighting and angry with each other!\u201d shouted Riaz as he jumped up from his chair in excitement. \u201cI heard it at Baha\u2019i Summer School!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-511 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahaijp.org\/daystar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/image-result-for-clip-art-children-carrying-bags-o.png\" alt=\"Image result for clip art children carrying bags of potatoes\" width=\"75\" height=\"159\" \/> \u201cWhat happened?\u201d asked little Anisa.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-513 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahaijp.org\/daystar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/image-result-for-clip-art-potatoes-in-bags.jpeg\" alt=\"Image result for clip art; potatoes in bags\" width=\"112\" height=\"113\" \/> \u201cThe teacher had a great idea!\u201d Riaz continued. \u201cShe brought a big bag of potatoes to school and a whole bunch of empty bags. She gave each kid a bag, and told them that whenever they were mad at someone they should put a potato in the bag\u2026; when they forgave them they could take it out. The kids really liked that idea, they just kept getting into fights and putting potatoes in their bags. The teacher said they had to carry the bags at recess, and at home\u2026 and all day! Since no one ever forgave anyone, the bags kept getting heavier and heavier!\u201d Riaz demonstrated by pretending to pull a heavy bag across the room. \u201cPretty <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-517 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahaijp.org\/daystar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/image-result-for-clip-art-bags-of-potatoes.jpeg\" alt=\"Image result for clip art bags of potatoes\" width=\"173\" height=\"137\" \/> soon the potatoes started to spoil and smell really bad, and still the kids dragged their bags around and added more and more<br \/>\npotatoes!\u201d As Riaz pulled and pulled an invisible bag around the room, little Anisa clapped in glee. Riaz was such a showman!<br \/>\n\u201cFinally, one boy decided, \u2018to heck with this!\u2019 He thought about his classmates and said, \u2018They are all nice guys! I like them! I forgive them!\u2019 and he dumped all his potatoes in the garbage!\u201d Riaz<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"359\" height=\"140\" class=\"wp-image-515 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahaijp.org\/daystar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/image-result-for-clip-art-children-fighting-1.jpeg\" alt=\"Image result for clip art children fighting\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahaijp.org\/daystar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/image-result-for-clip-art-children-fighting-1.jpeg 359w, https:\/\/www.bahaijp.org\/daystar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/image-result-for-clip-art-children-fighting-1-300x117.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 359px) 100vw, 359px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>demonstrated what that would look like, then paraded around the room smiling and showing off (to his pretend friends) how it felt to be free. \u201cAll his classmates liked that idea, and they all did the same thing! They all decided that being angry hurt no one but themselves!\u201d Riaz finished with a bow and all the family clapped.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"293\" height=\"172\" class=\"wp-image-521 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahaijp.org\/daystar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/image-result-for-clip-art-children-fighting.png\" alt=\"Image result for clip art children fighting\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then Asma added, \u201c\u2018Abdu\u2019l-Baha was the Perfect Example of how we should forgive people. Remember the man that spent years and years hating all the Baha\u2019is. He especially hated \u2018Abdu\u2019l-Baha because He was the leader of the Baha\u2019is. The man always used to spit at \u2018Abdu\u2019l-Baha every time he saw Him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mona continued, \u201c\u2019Abdu\u2019l-Baha never got angry with him; He always forgave him\u2026and helped the man whenever the man needed anything\u2014medicine or money\u2014or visiting him when he was sick, or anything!\u201d<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-519 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahaijp.org\/daystar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/image-result-for-clip-art-boy-with-empty-bag.jpeg\" alt=\"Image result for clip art boy with empty bag\" width=\"161\" height=\"234\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen,\u201d finished Asma, \u201cafter about 30 years the man finally felt bad and went to beg \u2018Abdu\u2019l-Baha\u2019s forgiveness and they become good friends!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Father looked at his children and said, \u201cI hope we all have learned the importance of forgiveness. In fact, \u2018Abdu\u2019l-Baha said we should not give offence, and we should not take offence\u2026. That means we should try to not make people angry, and we should not get angry, either. To not get angry in the first place is even better than forgiving after you get angry!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shahla jumped down from the table and ran to the kitchen and got the big basket of fruit off the counter.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-525 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahaijp.org\/daystar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/https-gallery-yopriceville-com-var-albums-free-c.png\" alt=\"https:\/\/gallery.yopriceville.com\/var\/albums\/Free-Clipart-Pictures\/Fruit-PNG\/Fruit_Basket_PNG_Vector_Clipart.png?m=1434509701\" width=\"219\" height=\"207\" \/> \u201cWell, the good news is\u2026.we have a nice bunch of fruit for dessert!\u201d she said as she put the basket in the middle of the table.
